No love for Santa

Last Saturday we attempted to take Addison to the mall in hopes to see Santa, but there was at least an hour wait, no thanks. We ended up taking her on Monday and only had to wait in line for about 10 minutes, where we were entertained by the Polar Express display. She was pretty entertained, right up until we saw Santa. She wanted no part of Santa Clause - major meltdown. She was screaming and blowing raspberries out of sheer anger. Hysterical. Santa got no love from Addy. If only we had a video camera.....but at least we caught it on film. Classic first Santa picture:

On the move

Addison took her first steps just before Halloween, but it was so hard for me to capture on film since I needed to be right next to her in case she fell. I was finally able to capture those precious steps last week. She is gaining confidence with each step and is getting to the point where she walks more than crawls. Now she just needs to figure out how to stand up from a sitting position, without pulling herself up using the furniture or the wall. All I can say is that LT is in trouble now that she is quite mobile. She already likes to chase him and thinks its hysterical when she catches him.

Birthday Party

Addison's first birthday party was a big success! A great big thank you to the grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends for being here to help us celebrate Addison's first birthday. Here are some pictures from her party:

Who doesn't want to wear a tu-tu on their birthday?
Cousins: Meghan & Julia
Cousin: WilliamAddison's friend Landon

Birthday Cake

Addy's very own birthday cake:

hmm...what should I wish for?

let me at that cake!
Addison didn't make a mess of her cake. She doesn't like to get her fingers dirty, so once her little fingers were covered in frosting....she had enough.

We hope everyone had a very happy Thanksgiving.

xoxo,

David, Kristen and Addison

Addison is One!

Happy Birthday Addison! We can hardly believe that our tiny baby is already one (and no longer a tiny). I remember November 20, 2007 like it was yesterday. It was freezing (much like it is today). We got to the hospital by 7am and spent the next 2 hours getting prepped for the c-section. As I looked outside the window, I noticed some snow flakes, the first snow fall of the year. It was a truly magical day. Addison was born at 9:40am. That was the moment our lives changed, for the better.

The past year has been so full of joy. We didn't know it was possible to love someone so much. Addison is so wonderful and has such a personality. We are truly blessed that she is a part of our family.

Addy has developed leaps and bounds over the past 3 months. More specifically she:

  • is taking 10-15 steps unassisted and gaining more confidence with each step. She has started to walk, as opposed to crawl, from the coffee table to her toy bucket.

  • says "mama, dada, baba" she will try to make a "T" sound, which I believe is her way of calling LT. she also says "yeah" and will even use it in the appropriate context. for example, I will say "Addison, do you want to eat lunch?" and she will say "yeah."

  • has 8 teeth

  • is fascinated with the phone

  • loves to turn the TV on an off. as well as open and close the DVD tray

  • loves to read

  • shakes her body to dance to any music, she will also move her hands around when she dances. sometimes she dances with her body, sometimes she dances with her hands....but whenever she is dancing, she has the biggest smile and she rocks her head from side to side. we don't have any idea where she gets her love for dancing, as most of you know....neither Dave nor I were blessed with the gift of rhythm.

  • loves to play with LT

  • has mastered waving hello and good bye. she waves to anyone and everyone. but she loves waving to LT. she waves "bye bye" to LT as we go upstairs for her nap, and waves "hello" to LT when she gets up from her nap.

  • eats most anything

  • her one year appointment is next week, so we are anxious to find out how much she has grown over the past 3 months.

More pictures to come, after we celebrate with cup cakes tonight! We looking forward to seeing some family and friends this weekend at Addison's birthday party! And no, there will not be any ponies or elephants at Addy's party....much to Grandma Rougeau's dismay.

xoxo,
Kristen, David and Addison

One Year Ago

37 weeks pregnant, as big as a house and ready to pop. We had no idea how much our lives were about to change.

I still can't believe our baby is going to be one, two weeks from today.

Boo!

Happy Halloween! Despite the fact that Addison has had an ear infection for the past two weeks (she just finished her second antibiotic to try to get rid of this infection), we celebrated Halloween. My friend Lindsay brought her son Landon (5 weeks older than Addy) over for a fun play date and we dressed them up in their costumes. Addy, a pumpkin, and Landon,a skunk.

Lil' Stinker
Dave was able to get out of work early so we could take Addy trick-or-treating, which consisted of a total of 3 houses. It's fairly awkward taking an 11 month old baby, who obviously can't eat candy, door to door.

Trick-or-Treat!

Checking out my goodies!

Earlier in the day, Addy thought it was hysterical to pull off all the toilet paper from the roll.

To my cousin, William

Dear William,

I am so sorry that I got another ear infection on Friday night and had to miss your 1st birthday party. I was looking forward to playing with you and getting into everything together. I hope you had a great birthday party and got a lot of great presents. I missed you.

Love,
Addison

Here are two pictures of me, sick and grumpy.

Elmo Live

So after hearing about all the buzz surrounding the new Elmo Live toy, I decided to head to Target this morning to get one for Addy for her birthday. I wasn't sure if there would be a line.......but to my surprise, the parking lot was pretty empty. Just before 8am, I got Addy strapped into the cart and waited for the doors to open (as a note, we were only there 15 minutes before the store opened). It was at that point that I noticed a camera man and reporter heading towards the door. I was not about to be on TV! As I was reaching to grab one off the shelf, I saw the cameraman start taping. I backed up and said that I did not want to be on camera, but they could get a shot of Addison. I just watched the 11am news and Addy was on TV! She looked so cute, but it was just so funny to see her on TV, sucking away on her binky. If I can find a copy of the video online, I'll be sure to post it.

In other news, we are looking forward to our nephew William's first birthday party this weekend! I'll be sure to post pictures from the birthday party next week.

Here are some pictures of Addy out for a drive this past weekend.

The apple of my eye

Since the apples we picked two weeks ago were so good, we decided to go back this past weekend to get some more. This time, Grandma and Grandpa Hanley came with us! It was the perfect day and we had a great time. We also bought some pumpkins, but we may go back to the orchard in a couple weeks to take a hay ride. Fun!

That's right, I'm cool

We love those super chubby cheeks!

Get me out of here!

Fine mom, just take the picture already
