Happy 30th Birthday Dad!

Today is Dave's 30th birthday. On Friday, Addison helped me make cupcakes. Ok - so she didn't exactly help me....but she did behave when I was making the cupcakes...which is about all you can expect from a busy 9 month old. If I do say so myself, they turned out pretty good. I also made frosting, which Addison enjoyed tasting.

Addy also had fun helping Dave open his presents.
Happy Birthday Dave. We love you.

Addison @ 9 months!

We can not believe that Addison is already 9 months old. These past 9 months have been more fun and more tiring than we ever could have imagined.....but since Addison joined our family - we can not imagine life without her. I realize that I posted many of her milestones when I launched her blog, but like many of my fellow mommy-friends, I like to celebrate each monthly "birthday." My friend Mollie gave me a great idea, to take a picture of Addison each month next to the same teddy bear to document her growth during her first year. Here is my attempt to take her 9 month photo (she was not very cooperative):
My how she has grown since she was 1 month old:

At 9 months, specifically she:
  • measures in at 21 lbs 12 ounce and 28 inches long, 90th and 70 th percentiles, respectively
  • loves crawling

  • loves climbing up on everything (she is now pulling herself up in her crib and will be standing when I go in to get her)

  • claps her hands

  • loves to scream. She makes the funniest face right before she decides to scream (it is so hard to catch on camera)

  • say mama and baba (we are now working on dada)

  • has become impossible to change her diaper - all she wants to do is roll over. This is when I will tell her "no" and she will then laugh at me.

  • waves hello and good-bye

  • is quite social when we are at the grocery store - she will wave and smile at most anyone. This makes me laugh, as she still is not the most social when it comes to other people holding her. She is such a phony and will give crocodile tears when she is picked up by anyone other than Mommy or Daddy.

  • loves playing with her cousins

  • gives the animals a kiss when we read "Guess Who Farm Friends"
  • is getting a bit of a mullet
  • started to eat some table foods. so far she has had (and really liked) American cheese, bananas, watermelon, ice cream and popsicles. of course her favorite is the ice cream.

One of her new favorite activities is pulling apart magazines. We can no longer store magazines (or at least ones that we are interested in actually reading) on the shelf of our coffee table, as she will head straight towards them and tear it apart.

Her new favorite sleeping position:

Laughter is the best medicine

Poor Addison. The past couple of days have been tough ones. Not only does she have a cold, but three of her top teeth are making their way through. It has made for some fussy days, as she hasn't been sleeping well due to the pain from her teeth. Poor little thing. There is nothing harder than to see your baby sick or in pain.

Today was another tough one...but finally, after some tickles, I was able to hear that belly laugh I love so much. Its sure to bring a smile to your face as soon as you hear it.

8 1/2 months

It is so hard for us to believe that Addison is already 8 months old (soon to be 9 months). She is a complete joy each and every day. Over the past 8 months, she has developed into a beautiful, happy baby girl.....with her own little personality shining through more and more each day. Currently she is doing the following:

  • sitting up and playing with all of her toys

  • will move from a sitting to crawling position with a little grace (instead of just falling down onto her belly)

  • will get into a crawling position and rock on all 4s

  • she will push off of one knee, but fall onto her belly and continue to "army crawl" to get wherever she wants to go

  • she will usually head towards something that she should not be playing with -the computer, the cords to the computer or phone, the remote control (this does not make Dave very happy) or any one of LT's toys (this does not make LT very happy)

  • standing up assisted

  • she loves it even more when she is standing and you help her jump up and down (this is quite the work out and makes me very tired!)

  • has just started to say mama, although she does not associate that with me

  • claps her hands

  • waves hello (we are still working on good-bye)

  • will sometimes open her mouth when you go in for a kiss

  • thinks its hysterical when you tell her "no"

Some of the things she currently loves:

  • Eating her Gerber Puffs - sweet potato are her favorite flavor

  • going for walks in her stroller

  • tubby time

  • to read "Where's Spot" and "Guess Who - Farm Friends"

  • drinking seltzer (or anything else that mom or dad are drinking - see picture below. note: the cup was empty and the lid was closed)

  • playing peek-a-boo (especially in her crib where she will pull down the bumper - see picture below)

  • LT

I will be sure to post another entry after her 9 month appointment in two weeks.

love,
Kristen, Dave, Addison and LT
